Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, we will focus on raising awareness about the life-saving importance of risk management, early detection and early treatment of breast cancer. Because women can help reduce their risk for breast cancer by staying in good health, we are offering $0 joining fee to new members who show proof of a mammogram performed within the last year or who donate $30 to The American Cancer Society.
Current members as well as non-members can purchase a $10 punch card for 10 workouts with proceeds also going to The American Cancer Society. The 10 workouts can be done in honor of someone who has battled breast cancer, and a poster will be up in the club for each participant to sign as a way to show community support.
The Curves mission is to strengthen women, and this promotion helps us do just that. The punch card is a fun way for women to get involved and help punch out cancer, but it also gives us the opportunity to teach the importance of exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy weight. After all, 30 minutes of ‘me’ time is always a good thing.”
This offer is limited to one 10 workout punch card per person. The 10 visits must be completed by Nov. 15. The ACS estimates that nearly 226,870 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year, and another 63,300 will be diagnosed with carcinoma in situ (CIS), a non-invasive, early form of breast cancer. Breast cancer remains a leading cause of cancer death in women, second only to lung cancer. One woman in every eight will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in her lifetime.
